A quiet walk in the shadows
Born in Queensland, Australia. Lucian Carver has always harboured a deep love of storytelling; a passion ignited by childhood obsessions with Digimon, Pokemon and his collection of picture books. As a boy, he would craft his own tales, meticulously folding and sticky-taping A4 paper into makeshift books, each filled with imaginative stories and crude drawings in pencil and crayon.
As he grew older, Lucian’s ambitions shifted toward the military; he joined a local Army Cadet unit and held dreams of serving as a combat engineer in the Australian Army. However, these plans did not come to fruition, and he relocated to Victoria in his early twenties. It was there that Lucian found found his footing in the security industry, a career that would shape much of his adult life. During this time, he also became a devoted father; an experience that would profoundly change and influence his worldview, and, eventually, his writing.
After a successful career in security was cut short by illness, Lucian found himself at a crossroads. With the same determination applied to his earlier pursuits, he returned to his first love – writing. This time however, he approached it with a renewed seriousness, channelling his life experiences, most specifically his understanding of danger and baser human psychology, into the world of crime fiction and thrillers.
Lucian’s work is characterised by its gritty realism, complex characters and a deep exploration of the darker side of human nature. His stories are not just about crime, but about the motivations, fears and desires that drive people to the edge.
